Climate & Dress
Suzhou is located in the lower reach of the Yangtze River. Situated at the temperate zone and with subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, Suzhou enjoys four distinct seasons, with slightly cold winter and humid summer and abundant rain fall.
Here are some of my dress suggestions:
Spring (March- May): Warm and rainly climate. Good to dress sweater, jacket and thin coat.
Summer(June-August): Hot. Good to dress short-sleeve shirt, Wicking T-shirt, cotton thin clothes.
Autumn(September- November): Cool. Good to dress sweater, jacket and thin coat.
Winter(December-February): Cold. Good to dress thick sweater, woolen clothes, heavey coat together with glove and scarf.
As a native resident spent more than 20 years living in Suzhou, what I can tell you is the seasons of Spring and Autumn getting shorter while the summer lasts longer in the recent years. I personally feel summer starts in the late of May and ends in the middle of Sepember. I’m not sure if it is caused by the global warming but maybe it has some influence.
